Early Qing Manchurian Crane Embroidered Rank Square
Antique Chinese early Qing dynasty, early Qianlong period polychrome silk and gold embroidered rank square of a Manchurian Crane made to be worn by a 1st degree civil official. The finely embroidered badge with the Crane balanced on one leg atop a stylized rocky outcrop that pierces a turbulent sea and beneath a cloud filled sky. The background is finely worked with a polychrome couched trellis-work background.
